Dear friends and colleagues,

As previously announced, the 27th meeting will be held in Venice, Italy. The local organiser is Stefania Saccarola (European Master's Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation). The meeting will be held at the Monastery of San Nicoḷ (Riviera San Nicoḷ 26, 30126 Venice - The Lido). The Lido is a small island, not too far from Venice, by boat it is approximately 15 minutes.

The draft agenda for the 27th ECCHRD is attached to this message. In case you have any suggestions on the agenda please let the ECCHRD Secretariat know.

Training
At our 26th meeting, last year in Vienna, the need for training in Europe was discussed. Several topics for training were suggested. For this year's meeting the ECCHRD Secretariat will organise a day of training on 2 June, taking into account participant's preferences and the availability of trainers. Therefore, we would appreciate it very much if you could indicate your preferences for training on the following website, before 16 April 2004, so that we can provide the training that is needed at this moment.

Accomodation
It is hard to find (affordable) accomodation in Venice in June. However, the Monastery of San Nicoḷ, where the meeting will be held, can offer a limited number of rooms (28). The price of a room in the Monastery is approximately € 45,= per night including breakfast. If you share a room the price will be approximately € 37,00 per person per night including breakfast. If you prefer to stay in a hotel the price of a room will be approximately € 170,= for a single room and € 285,= for a double room.

Other expences
There is no registration fee for the meeting.To enable you to plan your participation to the 27th ECCHRD meeting, we give you an indication of prices of transportation and meals in Venice.
Transportation by boat from the airport to the Lido costs € 10,=
A bus on the Lido costs € 1,=
A boat ticket to Venice from the Lido costs € 3,50. It is also possible to buy a day pass for € 10,50 or a 3 days ticket for € 22,=. But the meeting will take place on the Lido.
A simple meal (pizza and a drink) on the Lido will cost approxematly € 15,=. Prices of meals in Venice will be much higher.

Invitation and registration
The formal invitation for the meeting as well as information on training (taking into account the outcome of the small questionnaire on training) and the final agenda will be send out in the week of 19 April. Registration for the meeting will be open in that same week.
